Okay that kind of was a bad joke.

But seriously, 6D’s ATB-1 is the biggest evolution that we’ve seen in full-face helmets for downhill biking in a long time.

It’s pros and cons have been debated on many forums and comments section but, as with all things, you should just come check it out for yourself before you pick a side.

Links below the picture if you’d like to read up a lil more before the 22nd of November!

Spank/IXS is back at the SF BikeExpo 2014

Speed on two wheels: That has been iXS’ core business right from the start. A big name in the world of motorbikes, iXS has become one of the leading manufacturers of sportswear and protective gear for mountain bikers over the last decade. And that is no coincidence: When developing functional bikewear or sturdy protective gear, a close cooperation with a large number of athletes is essential. It’s these athletes who deliver important feedback, thus helping to further improve existing products.

And mind you: Small details can make all the difference out on the trails. The result: Protective gear that you can fully rely on. And technical, functional sportswear tailored from high-tech fabrics and ready to be taken off the beaten paths – be it on long rides or in bike parks. And because looks do matter, iXS adds fresh designs as a lifestyle-related bonus.

    THE SPANK STORY
it could be argued, “racing is life”, and every one of us was born to win. the simple fact that you exist means you have already won the first and most important race of all. but, why spank? your first adrenaline rush was just moments from birth, when that all important spank on the buttocks kick-started your vitals and made you an adrenaline junkie for life. spank industries aims to free your mind and trigger that rush every time you ride your bike!

spank industries started as the brainchild of south african designer/manufacturer gavin michael vos, and german distributor sven mack. their goal was to create the perfect symbiosis of weight optimization, enhanced performance, and cutting edge style…and to do it at affordable prices! today spank is one of very few brands our size in the world, with in-house design, development, testing, and production of our complete line of unique and exclusive components!

    Get your Race Face on!
    Monday, November 17, 2014 @ 2:45 pm
    Posted by Grace

    Happy Monday, SF Bike Expo-ers!

Or not. Let’s not even try to pretend that Mondays are ever happy. Hope you at least got a ride in over the weekend, though!

I’m staying motivated to get through the week by thinking about this weekend’s SF Bike Expo. Race Face is one of our vendors and I’m super stoked about that.

I don’t know what they’re going to be bringing with them, but here’s my wishlist, in no particular order:

    1. SixC – Cinch crankset: I’m currently using a 30t n/w chainring and while I could get by on a 1 X 10 in North Vancouver and Squamish, this configuration is killing me here in California. (I am, of course, using this as an excuse to check out new cranksets and drive trains.)

    2. Indy Knee Guards – The Husband bought these for himself and although they’re a size too big, I loved them and stole them off him. I’d like to get a new pair in my size and give him back his (now-grubby) Indy Knee Guards.

    3. Kash Money Gold Bar – So beauty. I want to hold it. If they had matching pedals, I’d be sold.

    4. Women’s Piper and DIY short – I bought the Khyber short at the start of summer this year. One season of rough riding and tumbles later, it’s still in near-mint condition; a testament to the quality of Race Face apparel. The Khyber short is a little heavy for the long, pedally rides here so I’d like to give their lighter shorts a try. Actually, I hope they bring aalllll their women’s apparel. They’re one of the few brands that doesn’t ‘design for women’ by sticking flowers and curlicues on pink and purple things.

    5. Remy Metailler – ;D

See you guys in less than a week!

    Bicycle Fabrications

Bicycle Fabrications returns to the SF BikeExpo look for Hank, Brian and the ever present “HIppie” Jerry Vanderpool.

Hank rider/owner of bicycle fabrications aboard the pocket rocket

Bicycle Fabrications was founded in 2007. Our main passion has always been gravity racing oriented, but in the early days we were building all sorts of things. We thought we were going to be like any other small builder – taking orders for whatever people wanted us to make them. If you take a look at our past projects, you’ll get some idea of the range we covered – everything from road bikes to a tandem downhill bike to a wooden-tubed lugged bike.

After a couple years, it became clear that we were spreading ourselves too thin. We really wanted to focus on developing the kind of bikes that we were most interested in riding ourselves. There are plenty of options for people who want road bikes and beach cruisers, but not a lot of options for those of us that want no-nonsense high performance, low-maintenance steel full-suspension bikes. A lot of stuff on the market gives you the impression that when you buy a bike, most of the money goes to the graphic designer, the paint shop, and the warrantee department. We wanted to give an alternative to the privateer enthusiast, the rider who doesn’t want dozens of tiny bearings or linkages that look like they’re meant to confuse more than to perform. If this sounds like you, then you’re in the right place.
